Suffice it to say, we're starting to realize that Allison Williams has way more in common with her Girls character than she lets on — in the wardrobe department, that is. As for Marni's current insecurity streak? That's all for show. Williams shows off her conservative and confident side in this month's Town & Country, with a refreshingly honest interview about her persistence to win the once-in-a-lifetime part, and her refusal to conform to style critics.
"I have a goal, which is that I don't ever want to look back on something I wore and think, 'Oh my God, what was I thinking?'" she told the mag. "That feeling is much scarier than looking back and thinking, 'Oh, I took myself so seriously. I'm so buttoned up.'" True to form, her cover shoot shows the star dressed in satin ball gowns and updos, which are much more fit to her childhood spent accompanying dad Brian Williams to galas than her character's dingy Greenpoint flat. While we certainly aren't going to judge Lena Dunham for her pantslessness (more power to her!), we also love seeing Williams stick to what she knows and loves, haters be damned.

And, if you're wondering how Allison made it to her spot in the limelight in the first place, her famous pops only had a small role — it was actually (almost) all due to this YouTube video. After graduation, the out-of-work actress put together a talent reel of sorts, showcasing herself in an evening gown and performing a mash-up of the Mad Men theme and "Nature Boy." Quirky, yes, but the clip soon went viral and caught the eye of Girls producer Judd Apatow — and the rest, as you know, is history.
