Here's our top three NYC picks that'll make it a night to remember:
The House—So this is a bold statement, but we think this is quite possibly the most romantic restaurant in Manhattan. Built in 1854, this former carriage house, smack-dab in Gramercy Park, is an insta-classic without being stuffy. We die for the first floor parlor with a fireplace, huge-ass windows, and some '40s jazz to get you in the mood. There's a major wine list, plus some wild boar lasagna and an epic NY strip loin sandwich.
R29 Deal: During dinner seatings this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, Refinery29 readers can enjoy a complimentary glass from a selection of red or white wine with the purchase of an entreé. Just mention that you heard about it on Refinery29!
The House, 121 East 17th Street (at Irving Place); 212-353-2121.
B.E.S.—Patrick Duffy's joint, which stands for Boutique Eat Shop, drew us in the minute we stepped in the door. It's a semi-private eating club (but he's letting you guys in on the secret) in the Chelsea Gallery District that's exclusive and super-private. Duffy calls it a "By Artist, For Artist" establishment, with a rotating group of installations that notch-up the unique factor. We especially love the giant metal architectural model that separates the kitchen from the seating area. The best part is the service--you'll feel like you're dining at someone's private home.
R29 Deal: Anyone who makes a reservation through R29 will receive a special B.E.S. "Patrick III" drink, made with cava, gin, grapefruit, and elderflower.
B.E.S., 559 West 22nd Street (at 11th Avenue); email kristian@refinery29.com to make a reservation.
Marcony—So we don't generally advocate hanging in Murray Hill, but we're willing to make an exception for Marco Pipolo's (of Scalinatella fame) Italian restaurant, which boasts upscale cuisine that's benissimo for the wallet. With some smokin' interiors influenced by Capri, (think luxury yacht), we rec the the Tagliata Di Tonni (thinly sliced Sesami seared Tuna with Armorini Pasta). If that, plus the amazingly priced wine, doesn't please your date, well, we're stumped. P.S.: Try and score a table outside.
R29 Deal: For the weekend, enjoy a glass of Prosecco upon your arrival! Just mention R29.
Marcony, 184 Lexington Avenue (between 31st and 32nd streets); 646-837-6020.
