It's Tina Fey Vs. The Taliban...Kinda

No, we wouldn't want her joining Seal Team Six or anything. That would be, as they say, a bad idea. No, rather Paramount has announced that our friend Tina Fey will be producing and starring in The Taliban Shuffle. Based on the book of the same name, the film will reunite Fey with her 30 Rock writing partner, Robert Carlock. Prediction: funny.
The source material itself is journalist Kim Baker's memoir, The Taliban Shuffle: Strange Days in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Covering Baker's years reporting on the early days of the war in Afghanistan and the related tumult in neighboring Pakistan, it might seem like an odd fit for Fey's comic talents. Then again, according to reviews we've read, Baker's book is rife with mordant, dark humor, antics, and screwball relationship comedy. Indeed, The New York Times' Michiko Kakutani said of Baker in the journalist's memoir, "Though she develops the chops of a veteran foreign correspondent, she depicts herself as a sort of Tina Fey character, who unexpectedly finds herself addicted to the adrenaline rush of war." So, um, there you go then.
As yet, there is no news on a director or a release date, but, rest assured, we will update you when there is. (Variety)
