If you haven't found an appropriate way to help the Philippines' recovery effort in light of the devastation caused by Typhoon Haiyan, here's your chance to make an impact. Fashion for Relief, an organization sponsored by the Philippine Consulate General of New York and the Filipino American Legal Defense and Education Fund, is curating a clothing sale that will directly benefit the people ravaged by the storm, but they need your help to pull it off.
The one-day sale event, which is happening Saturday, November 23 at the Philippine Consulate is still accepting clothing donations through Friday, November 22. Bring all of your gently used goods down to the FALDEF at 4 W. 43rd Street, Suite 505 or to the Philippine Consulate General of New York at 556 5th Avenue from 6 to 9 p.m. and 9 to 5 p.m., respectively. So gather up that fur coat buried at the back of your closet, the shoes you only wore once, and the statement jewels piling up on your dresser and get to one of the drop off spots, ASAP. Then, come out to Saturday's event and experience the best kind of shopping there is, that is, the kind that will help almost half a million people across the world. Diane Von Furstenberg and Comptoir des Cotonniers have already signed on to help, as well as Magnolia Bakery which is supplying some tasty refreshments for the sale. With a 100-percent volunteer staff, each dollar is going directly to the Philippines, no exceptions. Jump-start the season for giving a little early this weekend, and support Fashion for Relief. For more information, head over to the Fashion for Relief page, right here.
The Fashion for Relief sale will take place at the Philippine Consulate at 556 5th Avenue (between W. 44th and W. 45th), from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
