Have you noticed that very few people are taking legit photographs these days? It's all about those quick snaps (we're talkin' every purchase, meal, or adorable kitten in their path) to be instantly shared on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitpic. We're at fault, too — heck, we just got a bunch of "likes" for posting a photo of our feet (granted, those shoes were pretty dope!). And, even though we could wax poetic on social media's impact on photography until next week's mani appointment, we'll spare you. Here's the boiled-down thesis: In this day and age, nothing makes our hearts skip a beat quite like seeing an old-school candid.
With that, we're wishing we had a few extra bones in our back pocket, because The Movie Star News Collection will be sold in a series of NYC auctions next week. Believed to be the most in-depth collection of Hollywood images in the world, this archive will feature prints of Marilyn Monroe, Liz Taylor, Judy Garland, and more. Head on over to The Cut to preview the shots, and we'll meet you at the closest Lotto ticket vendor! (The Cut)
