Zero + Maria Cornejo Turns Out a Solid Collection As The Fashion Crowd Turns Out For Her

zero-fall-09-runway-1
You know you're going to have a smashing success of a show when top dogs like Barneys' Julie Gilhart, Elle's Anne Slowey, and the New York Times' Cathy Horyn and Stefano Tonchi show up on time for your Monday morning show. And if what this recession needs more than anything right now are solid investment pieces that are cool instead of boring, then Cornejo lived up to the hype--and then some. Whether you're an all-black kind of gal or still lovin' plaid, a leather biker girl or prefer something more luxe, Zero's got it for fall: Evening gowns accented in rich lacquer boucle, oversized black coats in textured cracked leather, tartan jackets made from ultra-warm mohair, and "eccentric leggings" in bright lime tweed. The only thing we can't imagine flying off the shelves is the scuba-like headgear. Come on, Miu Miu already tried that one, and unless you're Vanessa Paradis, you ain't gettin' away with it.
