This You’ve Got To See: Vivienne Westwood Rebrands The English National Ballet

vw
Now, this is a match made in heaven. The English National Ballet has enlisted the talents of British fashion's grande dame, Vivienne Westwood, to rebrand the venerated institution for 2013. So it's out with the tutus and in with the Viv corsets and a new ENB logo.
The Ballet chose Westwood as the first of many collaborators in a program aimed at cultivating a, "non-conventional but classical image". Honestly, we can't think of a better person for the job. Under the artistic direction of Tamara Rojo, the ENB clothed its cast of dancers in loaned looks from Westwood's spring/summer 2013 collection for its new campaign. The results are some truly stunning images that will hopefully challenge the public's conventional views of ballet.

As Tom Sharp, creative director of The Beautiful Meme and another campaign collaborator explains, “It is about taking dancers out of tutus and moving away from conventional backstage images to show the intensity, creativity, and hot bodies of the dancers."
Certainly, with their poses, poise, and long, graceful muscles, the ENB's dancers have it over average model in our book. We just can't wait to see which fashion favorite will be dancing with the Ballet next. (The Stage)
