It’s no lie that this city gets unbearably hot and humid in the summer months. To avoid sweating through all of your clothes on the way to the subway for your commute, pop into one of the next coffee “hot” spots for the best iced coffees this city can offer. There's nothing better (and more delicious!) than a cup of joe for refreshing city sipping this summer.
1. Café Grumpy No, it’s not all in the name. You certainly won’t leave this Chelsea landmark feeling grumpy. This is the perfect spot to try unique blends from all around the world. The best part – they roast their own beans and if you like what you taste, you can order the current coffee selection online and have it delivered to your door! Just add ice to the blend and you have the perfect summer pick-me-up. Currently, we love the Columbian blend, Desarrolo Co-op. Mmmmmm.

2. Stumptown

While this Portland-based brew master may feel a bit Hipster-esq in the Ace Hotel, it definitely leaves us “stumped” on how they brew the perfect cup of coffee. While famous for their elaborate foam decorations on their hot espresso drinks, their iced option is the perfect sweet treat this season. You can also buy the cold coffee in rustic bottles to crack open at the park while soaking up the sun with friends.

3. Abraco

Doing some vintage shopping in the East Village? This little hidden treasure is the perfect option if you are looking for the best espresso that’s made just for you! Try a little espresso over ice with a dash of soymilk and raw sugar for the best little faux-latte. Just don’t forget to grab a delicious rose almond cookie on your way out!

4. Kaffe 1668

Looking for a spot that has a large selection of iced coffee blends from places like Kenya, Ethiopia, and Costa Rica? Kaffe is your go-to java hut. Not only is their coffee delicious and made to order, but they import their milk from Upstate! It’s like your own New York landmark in the palm of your hand!

5. Hungarian Pastry ShopThe absolute best iced coffee on the Upper West Side is housed in the Hungarian Pastry Shop in Morningside Heights. Not only is it the place for those studious Columbia kids, but you can get a delicious freshly brewed Hungarian iced coffee for $2.50! Doesn’t get better than that. Be warned, it’s hard to leave without picking up a pastry. (If you’re on a diet…this joint may prove to be a challenge for you.)

6. Ninth Street Espresso If you’re cruising the streets shopping in the Meatpacking District, don’t forget to pop into Chelsea Market for even more boutique choices. The best part? The Market houses one of the best coffee joints in the city…Ninth Street Espresso. While there may be a long line this summer, the classic iced coffee is worth the wait!

7. Balthazar Looking for a fabulous treat, but don’t want to spend the hefty dine-in costs at Balthazar? - Check out the Balthazar Bakery for great iced latte options. One perk (no, not quite “Central Perk”) is that stars such as Claire Danes are constantly seen sitting on the benches outside the treasured SoHo eatery. Nothing better than a star sighting to wake you up in the morning.

Think Coffee While there are a few Think locations scattered throughout the city, we love the location near Union Square because of the eclectic group of artists and students that sip on iced coffee everyday.
