Even after 2009’s “Moth / Wolf Cub” and last year’s "Ego / Mirror" with Thom Yorke, the excitement that ripples through the electronic music world when Four Tet teams up with dubstep gloom-king Burial hasn’t lessened one iota. Their third collaboration, “Nova,” finds the duo in a similar headspace as the “Moth / Wolf Cub” 12”, with Four Tet’s house-y synths atop a 4/4 kick drum and Burial’s trademarked spectral vocal samples. Yet, as with their past collaborations, it’s hard to determine where Burial ends and Four Tet begins, and speculating hardly adds to the beautiful end result. What we’re left is “Nova,” a subtle, singular track that's unnecessary to deconstruct and best just to experience.
