Party On! Chrissie Miller’s Montauk Photo Diary

When it comes to fashion, Chrissie Miller proves she's no Sophomore, despite that being the name of her ever-expanding line of graphic tees and downtown dresses. Instead, the collection that started with a single tee back in '03, has become a phenomenon with NYC's coolest gals and guys. So, when we heard Miller was heading east for a weekend celebration of her new pop-up at the Cynthia Rowley store in Montauk, we wanted in. Though we all know the dangers of tipsy picture taking, Miller didn't let us down: She partied with camera in hand to record a photo diary just for us—there's tons of stylish snaps from Saturday night's bash. Located in a small-shed behind Rowley's main store (she asked Miller to "trick it out"), Miller shaped-up the shack with architect Rafael de Cardenas, who added "weird paintings of Mick Jagger," papered the wall with lookbooks, and put up an American flag. Look for co-host and fellow Sophomore designer Madeleine von Froomer (formerly of Proenza Schouler), Jen Brill, The Misshapes, and Rowley herself, plus Sophomore's usual chilled-out extended family—all of whom brought some Lower East Side to the East End.

"There is a small shed behind Cynthia's new Montauk store. Cynthia asked me early on in the summer if I would come up sell some Sophomore and have a party. I'm in Montauk every chance I'm invited so the idea sounded perfect."
"The pop-up didn't have much. Clothes, lookbooks, an American flag, a neon sign, and some weird paintings. So, Rafael de Cardenas, my friend and a interior designer, had the genius idea to cover the whole shed with lookbooks. With a little help from my friends, Raf, Jen Brill, my boyfriend, thanks guys!, we spent the next four hours staple-gunning our faces off!"
"Saturday around 6 we went back to the store for the opening party. I always prefer doing events outside of New York...less pressure. I also love watching people's reaction to the clothes. I heard one guy say 'this is going to be my new favorite T-shirt, I can just feel it.' That made it all worth while."
