As we trot through the thick of the holiday season, our minds admittedly may be on glittery frocks and kitschy sweaters for ourselves. But, we still keep our eyes very wide open for a head-snapping pressie (or two) for the stylish peeps in our lives. And this cool new team-up fits that bill, tenfold. We gave you a little teaser about the Spanish shoe company Preventi and techie design whiz and Facebook employee Mike Matas’ collab a few weeks ago. But lo and behold, the snazzy soles have officially launched today, and Matas has extended his design-savvy eye from gadgets to fashion and as a result revealed a functional, sharp-looking pair of steppers.

And they’ve instantly catapulted their way to the top of our shopping lists. Matas told us that the fusion was sparked from a video of a trip he and his girlfriend Sharon Hwang took to Morocco and Spain. “When we got back, I took the few thousand photos I had taken and strung them together in a video," explained Matas. “Preventi saw the video and thought it really summed up the vibe of its work.”
And, like they say in show shoe biz ... a star was born! The sleek footwear comes in two different hues and is crafted from handmade leather and feature a cozy wool interior. Looking good while staying warm, FTW. They retail for $269 a pair, but imagine that special someone’s face when they find these bad boys under the tree. Pretty priceless.
