Is Prada Taking Inspiration From Cambridge Satchel Co.?

We've talked about retailers taking inspiration from luxury brands, but here's an example of the reverse. With the huge popularity of their super-bright cross-body satchels, Cambridge Satchel Co. has produced the bag to beat in terms of utilitarian, go-with-everything design — and Prada's throwing their hat into the ring.
A smaller, cuter version of the Prada hunting bag, the cross-body satchel comes in four colors (black, blue, red, and orange) and features shiny brass hardware and a rounded, schoolbag shape. Though lots of elements seem to recall the punchy-but-minimalist Cambridge Satchel bag, there are loads of distinct design elements that set it apart, including its price-tag (the Prada version retails for $1,595 as compared to Cambridge's $150). Find these in Prada stores this June in the U.S., Hong Kong, and select European countries, as well as the United Arab Emirates. (Prada)
