You Now Have Pamela Love’s Permission To Wear Your Messy Ponytails Out Of The House

The ponytail is our go-to when we're too lazy to actually put any effort into our hair, but still have to go out in public and not look like a hot mess. It's easy, for sure, but it can also be a little snoozy. After heading backstage at Pamela Love's fall '12 show however, we're starting to re-think that whole "meh" feeling we used to have about ponies — Bumble and bumble lead stylist Jordan M created a textured, tricked-out version that had us in a tizzy.

The key to getting all that gorgeous texture was layering a whole lot of product: Jordan started off by spraying models' hair with Bumble and bumble Prep, followed by a handful of Styling Creme and some Brilliantine on top. After hair had the gritty texture he was looking for, Jordan pulled it back into a thick pony and began using his hands to twist and pull the hair into individual chunks. He then grabbed a mini-crimper and began to crimp random sections to make it "piece-y and weird." He also used a flat iron to manipulate models hair into an "S"-shape, creating a "flat, weird" bend.

We love how he turned a classic, boring ponytail into something cool and intricate, without making it look too overdone or polished. It's definitely a look we can see ourselves reinterpreting the next time we want to sleep in and not waste time in the a.m. styling (a.k.a. tomorrow, and pretty much every day after that).
