Keep It Glassy At This Extra-Hot Thursday Night Event

Glass
Ready to heat things up this Thursday night? One option: Head to Optical Underground downtown for more than just an evening of shopping. The frames shop is hosting an event with premier hot-glass non-profit, Public Glass, for an event dubbed "Glass and Glasses". Ha. We know.
Listen to live beats, dine on yummy bites, drink free libations, and — most importantly — watch several Bay Area glass artists (including world-renowned glass blower Ferdinand Theriot) give edge-of-your-seat demonstrations with flameworking, a technique that makes glass bend and move at the artist's will. Bonus: The event will also feature eight super-cool works of art made from Optical Underground's collection of glass frames, which will be auctioned off later in April.

When: Thursday, February 9, 5 to 8 p.m.

Where: Optical Underground, 280 Sutter Street (at the corner of Grant Avenue); 415-982-5106.
