The DMV’s Newest Fashion Hot Spot Pops Up…In Fairfax?

mosaicslide
Just outside District lines, the new Mosaic District in Fairfax has quietly brought a destination-worthy-style hot spot to an improbable suburban locale. With chain boutiques like Lou Lou and South Moon Under, new locations for downtown menswear staples Federal and Palace5, plus dining options from the likes of Red Apron Butcher, Matchbox, and Sweetgreen, it’s a veritable greatest hits of DMV-area shopping and dining. Plus, there are some surprises you won't find in the District — like a Neiman Marcus Last Call Studio and an outpost of New York’s famed Angelika Film Center.

To fete the new development, there's a special Mosaic Fashion Night celebration tonight — and it’s totally worth grabbing a Zipcar. Kate Bennett, fashion editor of
Washingtonian
mag, will host the evening’s activities, which include discounts at a bevy of participating shops, free screenings of Diana Vreeland: The Eye has to Travel and The September Issue at Angelika, a CapFABB-hosted book signing party with style blogger Emily Schuman of Cupcakes and Cashmere at South Moon Under, and even a class on how to fix a flat tire on your bike. Whatever your plans were for tonight, they're definitely not cooler than that combo.

When: Tonight, November 13, from 6-9 p.m.
Where: Mosaic District, 2910 District Avenue, Fairfax; 703-992-7765.
