KENZO’s First Opening Ceremony Gang-Approved Collection: How’d They Do?

This spring '12 KENZO collection was the first with Opening Ceremony's Carol Lim and Humberto Leon as its Creative Directors, and way anticipated. The NYC duo has been wildly successful in coming up with interesting collaborations and in-house designs, and have plenty of talent, support, and know-how to liven up the decades-old Japanese brand. KENZO is known for exuberant colors and a youthful spirit, and the O.C. team took inspiration from their own archives, as well as painter Ellsworth Kelly to create a colorful, bold collection with fisherman motifs, American streetwear, and a "Parisian spirit." Die-hard KENZO fans—how'd they do? Did they stay true to the KENZO DNA, or did they take the fashion house to another place?
