Julia Restoin Roitfeld: Lingerie Designer (And Independent Woman?)

When you are born to the editrix of French Vogue, you have two paths which you can take: Either you can embrace the socialite life and jet about to Fashion Weeks while finding an equally gorgeous boyfriend, or you can hone your skills and prove you've got your own set of chops.
Julia Restoin Roitfeld
, it appears, has chosen to do both.

Despite the fact that Restoin Roitfeld has model good looks (in fact, she's the face of Lancôme for spring), and by birthright, is a front-row fixture, the Paris-born 31-year-old is Parsons-trained and has done a stint at advertising powerhouse Baron and Baron. And now, she's focusing her designing eye on a capsule collection for Kiki de Montparnasse, composed of sexy bits of lingerie and lacy wraps, intricate boy-briefs and cat-o-nine tails. “I want to be known as me,” she told The New York Times. “I want to be known for what I can do on my own.” The limited-run items debuted this week to a crowd of editors, including Julia's very own mom. Did Carine approve? The former editor told the New York Times that she thought it was "sexy and not vulgar," which means that Restoin-Roitfeld not only got a nod of approval from Barneys (Carine is the luxury department store's guest editor/stylist/muse), but from Mom as well.
