JCPenney Sells “Too Pretty for Homework” Kids’ Shirts For Future Bimbos

JCPenney isn't a retailer known for having trenchant, ironic wit, so when we saw their shirt bearing the script, "I'm too pretty to do homework," we took it at its adorably sexist face value. The $9.99 T-shirt continues, "…so my brother has to do it for me." Seeing as it's available only in wee girls sizes and festooned with scribbles, flowers, and incorrect math equations, you probably weren't going to pick one of these up, anyways. But it's the Mad Men-era message on this '90s-vibe bargain-bin rescue that bothers us. If you can't see what's wrong with buying an impressionable young girl with her whole life ahead of her this morally and intellectually degrading design, don't worry your pretty little head about figuring out what it all means—we'll have a man explain it to you. Thankfully, Penney's has just announced that they've pulled the shirt from their racks due to outraged comments. Having been written by women, we presume they were rife with spelling errors.
