Seriously The Most Insane Designer Sample Sale To Benefit Japan

In the wake of the Japan earthquake and tsunami disaster, the fashion industry's collective efforts to help has generated not only much needed dollars to fuel relief efforts, it has also resulted in a ton of fashionable goods and events that allow us to shop for a worthwhile cause. And though it has been weeks since the disaster struck, help is still needed. The latest sample sale to benefit the disaster comes courtesy of Fashion Girls For Japan, formed by a powerhouse insider triumvirate (Kikka Hanazawa, VPL President, Tomoko Ogura, Barney's Co-op Women's Fashion Directo, and Kyoko Kageyama of 3.1 Phillip Lim), who have organized Saturday and Sunday shopping days that are pretty much beyond comprehension in their coolness. Thanks to special support from Julie Gilhart, former Barney's VP, the organization has managed to collect over 60 rolling racks of clothing from New York-based designers—each has contributed a full rack. The roster reads like a who's who of It-girl designer favorites (Alexander Wang, Marc Jacobs, Rag + Bone, Altuzarra, Vena Cava, Steven Alan, Yigal Azrouël, Proenza Schouler, and a billion others ) and with prices at 50% off or more, it's not going to be hard to score an equally cool wardrobe. $5 gets you an admission ticket to the event, and 100% of all proceeds goes to relief efforts. Now that's what we call guilt-free buying.

Fashion Girls For Japan Sale will be held at the Bowery Terrace at the Bowery Hotel, 335 Bowery (near East 3rd Street). Sale hours are 11a.m. to 7p.m. Saturday, April 2, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 3.
