Outside of the realm of beauty, ombré can feel a little too close to summer camp art projects. But still, we've seen the dip-dye trend permeate the fashion sphere, and at long last we're coming around. From last fall's dégradé obsession to the more recent Rob Pruitt x J Brand collaboration, the faded look's been stepping out in ways that feel far from juvenile.
Our favorite Instagrammers have taken to gradient hues as a way to freshen up their monochrome ensembles. Where we'd expect a dark turtleneck to anchor a cold-weather outfit, there will be a striped ombré mock-neck T-shirt. Or, a checked dress will fade down from black to white as it reaches the hemline. While Instagram's best dressed certainly branch out of that color palette, ombré is the common denominator that makes their #OOTDs truly stand out.
