Hipster Horror: A Salvation Army Is Becoming A Stylish Hotel

comments

If this won't get hipsters struggling to get their stovepipe jeans over their feet and out on the street to protest, we don't know what will. It seems like the old Salvation Army on Bowery at East 4th Street in the East Village is destined to become NYC's next hip hotel. The decrepit space was sold to a French hospitality group for $7.6 million (which, in the scheme of things, doesn't seem like much) and will be turned into a 65-room boutique hotel, with a trendy restaurant attached, natch. Where has the neighborhood gone? (Observer)
