Ok, ok, we know the Brooklyn Flea is pretty damn awesome, but sometimes it's tough for Manhattanites to strap-hang it on the G over to Fort Greene. Lucky for us, an entrepreneurial quartet is distilling everything we love about Brooklyn's market and bringing it to the LES. Suchin Pak (of MTV fame), her brother Suyhun, digital dynamo Adam Zeller, and architect Ron Castellano are opening the much buzzed about Hester Street Fair this Saturday, and we couldn't be more amped. According to Zeller, the site, on one of our fave stretches of Essex Street, "will be smaller, and curated very carefully. We aren't trying to compete with the Brooklyn Flea. We know we're smaller. We look at each vendor very closely and try and find the best mix for the customers." The booths (about 60 in total) will be 1/3 vintage, 1/3 crafts, and 1/3 food, which sounds like a pretty dope equation to us. We recommend checking out Streethawk for handmade garments and accessories inspired by medieval armor (and two-headed teddy-bears) and and Wanderlust Vintage, with summery boho dresses under $100. Ugh, our wallets hate us already.
The Hester Street Fair is located on the corner of Hester and Essex streets. Take the F train to East Broadway or F,J,M,Z to Delancey.
Saturday April 24th, and Sunday April 25th from 10a.m.-6p.m. (and every weekend from April to December)
