We’re huge fans of Jamie Lim’s eco-friendly (and entirely awesome) accessories line, Kayu, so we were thoroughly psyched when she slipped us her latest handbag lookbook. The collection features gorgeous Ikat-like prints in vibrant colors that are perfect for a Northern California spring. Hand-woven by women from the T’boli tribe in the Philippines who dream up the patterns in their sleep before transferring them onto the chemical-free fabric. Understandably, each bag takes several months to complete. But even with such a staunch approach to craftsmanship, the price-tags on the three styles are quite reasonable, with the Lilian envelope clutch ringing in at $135, the Julie bag with a circular shell handle for $180, and, our favorite, the Mel carryall for $225. To make the price even sweeter, Lim will donate $15 from each bag sold to buying one backpack and set of school supplies for a child in the Philippines. For a look at Kayu’s brand-new green (but definitely not crunchy) offerings, take a click through our slideshow.
