Child’s Play: Copy The Whimsical Beauty Looks At Peter Som

The beauty team at Peter Som's spring '13 show were inspired by the idea of an East Village party girl who, point blank, does what she wants. Tom Pecheux for MAC created an innocent, artsy makeup look that, like a child's drawing, was simply colorful and happy.
The star here, though, was the brighter-than-bright eye (a huge trend for spring '13). To get the look, Pecheux began with a soft yellow shadow on the lid (from a new MAC Spring Trend Palette). He then applied with his fingers, rather than brushes, MAC Pro Paint Sticks in a rainbow of hues to create the colorful ombre eye. Pecheux avoided eyeliner, brow color, and mascara (seriously, mascara is OUT for spring) to keep the focus on the technicolor lids. To finish it off — and add a creaminess to the lip — he slicked on a tiny bit of nude lipstick ("Posh Tone" from the spring collection).
The hipster-princess-gone-bad hair was created by Wella Professionals' global creative director Eugene Souleiman, along with Wella's color ambassador Aura (One name only. She dyed her hair hunter green the night before the show. Yeah, she's way cool). According to Aura, the collection's concept of "Women on the Verge," inspired her and the Wella team to create a stylish, fashion-forward look that made the girls appear as if they had just rolled out of bed. Aura and the team painted extensions to create the dusty, "punky-pastel" shades, and then treated the hair with Wella Professionals Ocean Spritz to create the perfect "slept-in" texture.
And then there were the nails. Exclusively for Peter Som spring '13, Zoya color expert Rebecca Isa created a collection of three shades: creamy orange, mint, and white, all with cooler undertones, which Isa says, "is more flattering against the skin." For the runway, models sported french manicures with mint on the base and orange on the tips — honestly, what's better than that for spring?
