Eye For A Pair: TOMS Shoes Expands To Sell Sunglasses

Ever since his teaser announcement for the expansion of the TOMS brand at this spring's SXSW keynote address, we've been hotly anticipating TOMS Shoes founder, Blake Mycoskie, unveiling the new mystery product. The popular shoe company, founded on a one-to-one business model where for every shoe sold, one pair is given to a child in need, revealed today that they are venturing out of sell hand-painted, colorful striped sunglasses. The company will be going a charitable eye for an eye, or eyes for a pair, giving sight to a person in need by donating prescription glasses, surgery, or sight-saving medical treatment for every pair of sunglasses purchased. Retailers are already scooping up the shades that come in several different shapes and will be selling for $135-$145 a pair. Yet another great cause by the Toms crew, these sunnies are sure to be as popular their canvas shoes, that's given to more than a million people in need since 2006. (L.A.Times)
