Hilary & Mo's Perfect Fall Wedding

Believing that weddings ought not bring out the bridezilla in each of us, Stone Fox Bride — a high-fashion boutique in Manhattan — was founded on the principle that planning a wedding is also a process of self-discovery. Molly Guy, creative director at SFB, is our source for the nontraditional bride.
I met Mo 5 years ago. My friend Shiri was being semi-set up with him through our mutual friend, Alex. We all met at a bar one night. I was seeing someone at the time, but he definitely made an impression on me. I ran into him a few times after that over the years, but then one night we were both at a crowded party and he asked me if I wanted to get some air. We sat on the roof and talked for hours. When my friend came over to see if I wanted to go somewhere else he answered "Sure, we'll join." From that moment on, we became a "we."
He said I love you when we were lying in bed one night, and even though I felt it too, I was scared to say it. I didn't want it to seem like I was only saying it because he was. So I waited a few weeks. We had been dating a year and living together for six months. We both knew we were the ones for each other, so I knew it would happen at some point soon. We went to Tulum for a few days for a "romantic long weekend alone" and I thought something might be up (then again, every time we went anywhere I thought something might be up). When we got to Tulum we realized a friend of ours was on location shooting a spread for her magazine, and she and her crew were staying in all of the other rooms at our hotel. Needless to say, we were barely ever alone. By the time the last night rolled around I figured it wasn't happening. On our way back from the beach to get ready for dinner I opened the door to our hotel room and there were candles and flowers everywhere. He got down on one knee and said some mushy things and held out a ring. I was definitely surprised. The ring was more beautiful than I could ever imagine.
