We've spoken a lot as of late about fashion's return to ruffled gentility, and so much of it can be attributed to Batsheva. Founded by Georgetown- and Stanford-educated former lawyer Batsheva Hay, Batsheva's dresses go full-force-frilly — see: ruffles, bibs, aprons, puffy sleeves, high-necked silhouettes — or, as it explains on its website, takes "elements symbolic of restraint and repression and [gives] them a modern inflection.” No wonder the brand was recently named a finalist for the 2018 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund.
