This Decidedly Non-Traditional Wedding Dress Is Perfect For The Remote Venue

By Freda

We hired three amazing film photographers for the wedding, both medium and large format, since I'm a fine art wedding photographer and really cared about this aspect of our special day. My husband happens to be a metal and wood worker, so we decided to style the wedding ourselves. We spent three days at the venue prepping the space, hanging lights, making wedding flags, and getting an overall feel for the space.

The venue was beautiful, with rolling grassy hills, the forest on one side, and the ocean on the other. One of the photographers was a tintype photographer and took formal portraits of Jared, me, and our dog Talula the day before the wedding.

The day of the wedding, we were both getting last-minute details in order, deciding where everything should going terms of decor and furniture, and of course, a bit of vow writing. Sean Hayes, one of our best friends — who happens to be a musician — married us. We read a quote from Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak and had Sean sing "Fall In" during the ceremony.
