This Is Our Jam: Arctic Monkeys, Drake, & Jessie Ware's Ex-Drummer

jam-1
Among our selection of tunes this week, we have new solo material from Jessie Ware's ex-drummer, a gorgeous new single from Julianna Barwick, and the latest from Drake's highly anticipated Nothing Was the Same. Most exciting, though, may be the new stoner-psych outing from British mainstays Arctic Monkeys. With Glastonbury coming up in the near future, nothing could be more appropriate.
Dornik
"Something About You"
Dornik used to drum for Jessie Ware, which makes sense considering that they both share a touch of retro R&B DNA. Yet, while Jessie Ware is all bubble-gum and sun, "Something About You" is dark, slow, and luxuriant.

Julianna Barwick
"One Half"
Brooklyn songwriter Julianna Barwick moved to Iceland for her most recent record, Nepenthe, where she collaborated with numerous local musicians. "One Half" is the latest taste of those recordings: a glistening, entropic track with a beautiful refrain.
Drake feat. James Fauntleroy
"On My Way"
With Nothing Was the Same set to drop this summer, Drake is ramping up. "On My Way" is an R&B slow-burner that sees the GQ cover star at his most sensitive.
Soft Metals
"In The Air"
For its new single, Portland synth-pop act Soft Metals have progressed from hazy atmospherics to muscular dance-floor-ready sounds. "In The Air" features a beat from JD Twitch of Optimo adding a slinky/sexy drive to the proceedings.
Arctic Monkeys
"Do I Wanna Know"
British superstars Arctic Monkeys have been flirting with stoner rock for a little while, but "Do I Wanna Know" sees the band knocking its new stylistic turn out of the park. With a psychedelic video that would make Queens of the Stoneage proud, the track is heavy and hard while still being infectiously catchy.
