A Delicious Way To Get Your Protein First Thing In The Morning

Some mornings are milkshake mornings. These also tend to be the kind of mornings that require old-school Mariah Carey blasting  in the background. (It’s possible that I’m only speaking for myself here. Surely, you’re more refined — with, say, black coffee and classical music.) So, I created a smoothie that satisfies my milkshake craving and gets me going. Peanut butter, like Mariah Carey, makes anything feel indulgent.

Chia seeds are my current jam. Packed with omegas, chia seeds also help to thicken the smoothie. Meanwhile, ground cinnamon and fresh nutmeg help this smoothie taste like banana bread. No harm in that.

Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie
makes 2 small or 1 large smoothie

1 banana, mashed or cut into chunks (frozen bananas will create a colder smoothie)
1/2 cup yogurt (I used vanilla goat yogurt)
1/4 cup all-natural peanut butter
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Big pinch freshly grated nutmeg
2 tbsp chia seeds (optional)
1 1/2 cups cold almond milk

Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Serve immediately. It’s that easy!
