Work From Home In The Cutest Office Space Around

Seeing as they’re the premiere online source for all things design, Grace Bonney and the Design*Sponge team might know a thing or two about interiors. Though they recently moved into a bigger space, we’ll always have a fond space in our hearts for the original meeting area Homepolish designed for the old Design*Sponge office. Here are some tips and tricks to make your space both beautiful and functional.
Needing the space to play triple duty — for meeting, eating and crafting, respectively — Homepolish designer Amanda Gorski chose easy-to-clean furniture and easily removable accessories. A tile standing table is perfect for messy projects and messy food alike and shearlings spruce up a chair in seconds (remove before things get sticky).
Create a cohesive theme by painting a few standout items one color. For example: gold mirrors, gold candlesticks and gold light fixtures. Have you ever spray painted anything? It’s really easy! But, do it outside. And, don't forget to wait for all of the paint layers to dry before adding another (you’ll probably need three).
Bright accessories make a surprisingly big difference in enlivening a space. Choose complementary colors you like and look for them in books covers, tea sets, trays, bowls for keys, cute straws and — if you’re the crafting type — leave your colors thread spools out!
Okay, let’s cut to the chase and talk wallpaper. It’s messy and almost impossible to install yourself but there are alternatives. The effect is achieved with a great pattern in an awesome color in any material big enough to cover a wall! So, if you find a fabric you love, hang it with brass tacks from the top of a wall that needs some love. Or, if you want to go a step further, consider trying temporary wallpaper.
