Sweet Scandinavia: Henrik Vibskov To Open First U.S. Store This Spring

Henrik Vibskov the musician tours the world as the drummer for electric act Trentemøller. Henrik Vibskov the artist is prolific, having exhibited at PS1, MoMA, Palais de Tokyo, NAI in Rotterdam, and Pool Gallery Berlin—to name a few. But it is Henrik Vibskov the fashion designer that we're most excited about; The Danish multi-hyphenate is set to open his first flagship store outside of Europe on Broome Street in April, thus continuing the edgification of Soho's retail scene (Isabel Marant, Alex Wang...). Henrik's avant-garde designs have been spotted on stylemakers and fashion eccentrics like M.I.A., Devandra Banhard, La Roux, Kanye West, Bjørk, Franz Ferdinand and The Arctic Monkeys, some of who have been fans since his first outing from Central St. Martins in 2001 (he's produced 17 collections!). The 850 square-foot space, with interiors of Danish reconstructed furniture, will house Henrik's inventive pieces for both men and women, like drapey dresses with uneven hems, hooded camouflage jackets, and fringed leggings, as well as accessories and lines from designers ranging from Cosmic Wonder to Stine Goya, and SNS Herning. To say we're looking forward to a Scandinavian spring is definitely an understatement.

Henrik Vibskov is set to open mid-April on 456 Broome Street (between Mercer and Greene streets).
