Cooking Tips From The Smile's Head Chef

It's a fact: Athena Calderone is a curator of all things gorgeous. Her breathtaking home decor, delicious recipes, and eye for style inspired her to create EyeSwoon, a hub for home and food inspiration. Now, It Girl Calderone will be taking us to New York's need-to-know spots and introducing us to the coolest people around.
If I can conjure up a list of things that make me smile — hence, making me swoon — food would reign high on my list, but Mediterranean flavors would rank higher. Chef Melia Marden’s creations from The Smile pretty much sum up perfection for my palette!
The Smile and I have an interesting history. In its early conception, my husband and I toyed with the notion of investing in the business. When we stumbled upon our Amagansett home we were faced with a choice: the home or The Smile. Though we did not invest; what we did take away from observing the space in its infancy is snooping the reclaimed wood that lines the ceiling at The Smile. That exact same lot of wood now clads the majority of my kitchen and home in Amagansett.
I felt paying homage to The Smile and cooking with Melia would be an absolute honor. It certainly filled me with gratitude — creating with, learning from, and being inspired by a woman like Melia is what this Eye-Swoon creative journey is all about for me.
