Life is hard. Practically everyone will utter that short sentence at least once in his or her lifetime. However, as ubiquitous as the phrase is, people rarely know what to do about it. The answer isn’t so simple, but life coach and author Christine Hassler is here to help. She counsels her clients on everything from relationships to careers and has even written two self-help guidebooks (with a new one out in October!) about navigating those scary years known as your twenties. Because Christine's job is hardly typical, her workdays are anything but average. If helping to keep other’s lives in order interests you, read on to see how Christine organizes her own days.
6:30-6:45 a.m.: Wake up with the app “Sleep Cycle” which wakes me up with a very gentle song within a 15 minute window when it is the least jarring to be awakened. I do NOT sleep with my cell phone on (put in airplane mode). Sleeping with cell service activated, even on silent, is not good for our sleep.
6:45-7:00 a.m.: Have a big glass of water with lemon, cayenne pepper and alkaline drops. Make my morning tea/tonic (yerba mate dark roast, maca powder, reishi mushroom extract, fresh ginger, cinnamon, coconut oil, almond milk, and stevia.)
7-7:30 a.m.: Morning spiritual practice. I read from Course in Miracles and meditate for 15 minutes.
7:30-7:45 a.m.: Read my mission statement that I read everyday, to my to-do list.
8-10 a.m.: Head to the gym, Equinox. Awesome kick-butt circuit-based class followed by foam rolling and stretching.
10-10:15 a.m.: Check and respond to some email. Yes, this is the first time I check my email. I also do NOT check my email first thing in the morning. I believe we all deserve self-care first before getting sucked into the addiction of email.
10:15-10:45 a.m.: Trip to Whole Foods (my home away from home). Love stocking up on Wednesdays where salad and hot bar is $2 off.
11-12 p.m.: Respond to email, do a little social media post, make my morning greens and protein drink.
12-1 p.m.: Work on my blog for the week, engage with community on social media.
1–2 p.m.: Work on book launch campaign by emailing promoters, working on book description. Expectation Hangover comes out October 2!
2 p.m.: Jill arrives! She is my project coordinator, manager, lead coach and all-around angel/right hand woman. Wednesdays are always our working day.
2:15 p.m.: Conference call with social media team.
3-6 p.m.: Major work time with Jill planning book tour events and book launch details. Watching footage from video shot we did on Monday to promote new business mastermind training program we are launching in January and then giving notes back to videographer.
6-6:30 p.m.: Call with web team to complete build out of book pages and secret sauce page.
7 p.m.: Dinner at A Votre Sante in Santa Monica with my girlfriend/soul sister and fellow coach Marni Batista followed by our weekly girl walk and talk.
9:30 p.m.: Evening meditation practice and gratitude list; write down at least five things each evening that happened that I am grateful for.
10 p.m.: Time for bed. I highly value getting at least eight hours of sleep a night, makes a HUGE difference in my life.
