Long-Lasting Lips: How To Keep Your Kisser Colored

I love bright lipsticks, but not many can last through a day full of sipping coffee through back-to-back meetings. If you're like me who leaves the house at 8 a.m. and won't see a mirror for another 12 hours, you need your lip color to last for as long as possible — and I've figured out a foolproof way to keep color on all day long, seriously! Just follow these steps.
Step 1: Exfoliate your lips to remove any extra bits of dead skin. I have really dry lips, so this is key for me. I like to use Fresh Sugar Lip Polish or you can gently brush over your lips with your toothbrush.
Step 2: Apply a clear lip balm like Kiehl's Lip Balm #1.
Step 3: Apply your lipstick but use a light tapping motion instead of swiping from side to side. I have tons of lipstick, but my two favorites are CoverGirl Lip Perfection in Spellbound and Radiant Moisturizing Lipstick in Poppy.
Step 4: Blot your lips with a tissue. This removes any excess product so that it won't slide off later in the day.
If you're going for a high-shine look, you can layer a lip liner and a gloss on top. But personally, I like to keep my lips matte, so I skip the gloss and instead reapply the lipstick. Then I place a tissue above my lips and dust on Sephora Collection Smoothing Translucent Setting Powder to set the color.
