This Week's Dose Of Can't-Miss Happenings!

The current state of drought may be coming to an end, along with the first month of good old 2014, so why not join us in celebration? Nothing makes us happier than staying true to our work hard, play hard mentality, so leveling the playing field between the two only seems fair. To do so, rack up some weekend RSVPs for you and your girls, or hit a few educational workshops like a sweet photography class or a few fashion-industry chats with the pros. Whichever you choose, the following list is a plethora of good times!
M Dot Design Studio Pop-Up Boutique
It is always a treat to have brands swing through our city, leaving our closets with some new treasures, and this pop-up shopping experience is no different. M Dot Studios will be moving in to the W Hotel for one quick night to preview some of its coolest wares. The best part is it won't be alone, and will be joined by its little sister brand Dot Dot, Costella Handbags, and Svelte Metals. The evening will be hosted by the local bloggers behind The Fancy Pants Report and Inspirafashion. Alongside this shopping frenzy there will be photography by Ryan Chua, and beats by DJ Junkyard Dog. All in all, this sounds exactly like where we want to be on a Thursday night!
When: Thursday, January 30, 5 to 9 p.m.
Where: W Hotel, 181 3rd Street (at Howard Street); 415-777-5300.
Magik*Magik Orchestra at The Fox Theatre
Magik*Magik, a crew that makes up a leading independent orchestra will be celebrating five years of bringing music to the public at the Fox Theater in Oakland. The show, titled "When We Were Young," partners with Another Planet Entertainment and Noise Pop to ring in the celebration and host some of the Bay Area's most talented artists. The night will raise money for the Magik For Kids fund, allowing youth to pursue their musical endeavors. Talents on call will be The Dodos, Geographer, Rogue Wave and many more!
When: Friday, January 21, at 8 p.m.
Where: The Fox Theater, 1807 Telegraph Avenue (at 19th Street); 510-302-2250.

Beaver Cafe's Super Bowl Party
On the day in which all of America joins together to celebrate a combination of football and an always-memorable half-time show, Dear Mom will be welcoming friends to enjoy a special menu by Jay Ilkenhons and The Beaver Cafe. A festive list of bites such as philly cheese tots, and a "white trash" burger, will entice the crowd, while the teams duke it out for the win! If you have yet to gather, the theme is Trashy Tailgate Party, whether you feel up to dressing the part is all on you!
When: Sunday, February 2, 11:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
Where: Dear Mom, 2700 16th Street (at Harrison Street); 415-625-3362.

Whether you're in the business of retail or hope to one day open a stylish space of your own, the ROAD speakers currently being hosted at NWBLK are just the stimulating activity for you. Brought to you by Alu CEO Abramo Manfrotto, the collection of speakers and symposiums will change the way you look at visual merchandising and the industry as a whole! Catch the last few chats before it's gone with Synesthesia: Visual Merchandising Gets Sensual, a competitive look at branding and visuals, and The End of Digital in Stores. Film Photography In Wine Country
If you have yet to peek at the new site Fullosophie, get ready to be hooked on some pretty cool new hobbies. Let's start with the natural light film photography class with acclaimed photographer Emily Scott, in sunny Sonoma. With a vineyard landscape of pure bliss beyond your lens, and a glass of vino in your hand, you will get a crash course in catching the scene in good old film. We really can't think of any better way to spend our Saturday, whether it be a pre V-Day treat with your honey, or just something you've always wanted to take up.
When: Saturday, February 1, 12:15 to 4 p.m.
Where: Scribe Winery, 2300 Napa Road (at Nicholas Road); 707-939-1858.
