Your Horoscope For This Week — Oct 20 2013

Aries (March 21-April 19)
Sexting with an ex? Never the best idea (nor is “innocent texting” for that matter), but with messenger Mercury spinning backward from Monday until November 10, you will be tempted. Be honest: You miss things about your old flame so why not make a list of those qualities? When the sun blazes into Scorpio on Wednesday, you can begin looking for someone new who has those positive traits — or start cultivating them with your current amour.
Taurus (April 20-May 20)
A real-deal relationship (one that doesn’t flame out after the fifth date) is heading your way as the sun tours Scorpio and your relationship house from Wednesday until November 21. Single bulls, follow the rule of opposites attract. Your new love interest won’t come in a predictable package at all. Coupled? The next four weeks are prime time for getting closer, perhaps even putting a ring on it or cosigning a lease for a cute one-bedroom. Warning: Mercury will be retrograde for three weeks beginning this Monday. An ex could attempt to creep back into the picture. Unless it was merely bad timing that kept you apart, keep the door firmly shut!
Gemini (May 21-June 20)
There’s no room for slacking this week, Gemini. On Monday, your ruling planet Mercury turns retrograde until November 10, increasing your workload and turning up the pressure. Don’t let self-care fly out the window. Exercise sends oxygen to the brain and helps you stay sharp. That noon yoga class could be your salvation. Try a helpful tool like the Pomodoro app that times 25-minute work spurts followed by a short break and has been shown to maximize productivity.
Cancer (June 21-July 22)
True romance or sweet nothings? This could get confusing for the next few weeks as messenger Mercury backstrokes through your fifth house of love. Clear signals will not be available from the object of your affections now. Monitor your own emotions — it’s all too easy to blow things out of proportion now or misread someone’s intentions. (Yes, you might just have to come out and ask others how they feel. Gulp.) After Wednesday, the sun will join Mercury in Scorpio bringing positive energy for your love life. Don’t lose hope, Cancer, just be patient with the process.
Leo (July 23-August 22)
Stay put, Leo. You’re verging on burnout and need to recharge. Plus, your relatives and roomies might file a missing persons report if you spend much more time away from home. Connecting to loved ones warms your heart. Don’t worry: In a few weeks, you’ll be back in socialite mode again.
Virgo (August 23-September 22)
Back up your important data and put a hold on those techie purchases. This Monday, your ruling planet Mercury turns retrograde, crossing signals until November 10. It’s a bit of a double-whammy since this backspin happens to be through your third house of communication. For the next three weeks, be vigilant about what you put in writing. If you have something snarky to say, don’t even think about putting it in an email or whispering about it where the walls may have ears. This is a great week to reunite with an old friend or creative collaborator. You might even make peace with a frienemy, but be wary of her motives before accepting the olive branch.
Libra (September 23-October 22)
Champagne wishes and caviar dreams? Have at ‘em, Libra, but if you’re on a PBR and Van de Kamp’s budget don’t go spending like nobody’s business. This week is an optimal one for generating new income streams. A coworker from your past could have word of a job opportunity. Put your feelers out even if you’re gainfully employed. There could be “intrapreneurial” options within your current gig, so consider writing up a job description and pitching to your boos.
Scorpio (October 23-November 21)
Retro revival time! On Monday, expressive Mercury circles back through Scorpio until November 10. Retrogrades rule the past, so dig through the crates and bring back a winning formula from back in the day. On Wednesday, the sun blasts into Scorpio for a month, marking the official beginning to your birth month. You’ll feel refreshed, ready to try new activities, and remake your world. Start a Pin board with all your brilliant finds, but wait until Mercury turns direct on 11 or 10 to put any “brave new world” plans into action.
Sagittarius (November 22-December 21)
Drama alert! On Monday, messenger Mercury takes a three-week backspin (retrograde) through your twelfth house of completions and the subconscious mind. Issues that you’ve swept under the rug could bubble up, demanding to be dealt with. Don’t try to put a rosy spin on things, Sagittarius. A simple night on the town could evolve into an unfortunate round of “dinner theater,” as emotions blaze out of control. Your best bet may be to take a breather from someone who is pushing your buttons non-stop. A meditation practice, even hypnotherapy, can help you heal and deal from the hurtful feelings surrounding this unresolved situation.
Capricorn (December 22-January 19)
Reunion tour, anyone? Social Mercury retrogrades through your friendship sector from Monday through November 10, making this the perfect week to get the band back together. Reach out to amigos from your past and revisit a group you were once affiliated with. This jaunt down memory lane might not be a forever thing, but you’ll reconnect to a part of yourself that you love. Also, there should be at least one person in the crowd who you want to bring back as a regular fixture in your life.
Aquarius (January 20-February 19)
It’s ascension time, Aquarius! This Wednesday, the sun bursts into your career zone for a month, helping you rise through the ranks. Connect your profession to your life purpose, even if that means volunteering a few hours with an industry impresario to get your foot in the door. Warning: As you climb the ladder of success, please do not dig your Choo in someone else’s back. It would be easy to overstep boundaries this week if you rush in too quickly. Find out the pecking order so you don’t ruffle the feathers of the “adviser to the king.”
Pisces (February 20-March 20)
Do the miles really matter? It’s time to find out. A long-distance connection burns brightly with possibility after Wednesday. You could reconnect with someone you met while vacationing early this year to discuss a business opportunity or to indulge in romantic reverie. One caveat: Information-planet Mercury will be retrograde from Monday through November 10 so you might want to meet up via Facetime and plan the official meetup after the 11. Check your schedule before finalizing a flight. If you do travel, only book with reputable companies. Saving a buck here or there just isn’t worth risking a bad deal.
