Party Overload: 9 Cool Events This Week!

mainPhoto: Via Topshop
You may have heard all the gabbing about the Treasure Island Music Festival and thought that was the only cool thing happening around town. While that is a pretty sweet event, it is far from the must-attend shindigs going down this week. Whether you want to pop-up hop or feel more like spending some quality time with your girlfriends and credit card, the options are practically endless with a whopping nine fêtes to hit up — so there's no excuse to say you're bored these next seven days! So, get to it, RSVP yourself, and prepare to have the most jam-packed agenda of all time.
Rock The Boat, Party To Treasure Island
Arriving fashionably late is known as the cool way to show up on the scene, and we found an even more killer way to show up stylishly tardy. This weekend while you make plans for the Treasure Island Music Festival (set schedules, ensembles, etc.), make sure that you are signing yourself up for the pre-party that is sure to get you amped for the coming concerts. The Bold Italic will be hosting you aboard and will ferry you to said dance party. Starting in S.F., stopping second at Oakland's Jack London Square, then heading on to T.I., you have plenty of time to catch the open bar and live music. P.S. this is not the time to be late, or you'll miss the boat!
When: Saturday, October 19, at noon to Sunday, October 20, at midnight.
Where: Ferry Building, 1 Ferry Building Marketplace (at Embarcadero); 415-983-8030. Jack London Square, 466 Water Street (at Embarcadero West); 510-645-9292.
Tickets: $35 to $110; buy 'em here!
Camelia Skikos & Sara Shepherd Trunk Show
We're always ecstatic to call a cool local designer one of our own, but when two blow our minds at once, we're sent into a fashion frenzy. Luckily, Neiman Marcus has tapped into our need for something both avant-garde and beautifully crafted and will be hosting a trunk show for San Francisco-based atelier ladies Camelia Skikos and Sara Shepherd. Both landing in S.F. via London, these creatives will be showing off current collections and chatting with guests. Get the chance to meet the two talents, shop, and confirm that style innovation does reside in our city.
When: Friday, October 18 to Saturday, October 19, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: Neiman Marcus Couture Salon, 150 Stockton Street (between O'Farrell and Geary streets), third floor; 415-362-3900.
Lotfi & Metrode Pop-Up at Asterisk Gallery
To keep this fashion train speeding through town, we are happy to list a pop-up that will paste a smile on your face. This one-time shop presented by Lofti will be featuring garb from goodies such as A Detacher, Apiece Apart, Dieppa Restrepo, Electric Feathers, Rachel Comey, and Vanessa Bruno Athe. Extra-special guests will include Shara Lotfi with her latest womenswear collection and Seattle-based craftswoman Caitlin Emeritz of Metrode. While you shop yourself silly, Emertiz will demonstrate weaving on a lap loom, and offer smaller weaved items for sale.
When: Saturday, October 19, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Where: Asterisk Gallery, 3156 24th Street (between South Van Ness Avenue and Shotwell Street); 415-839-9707.
This Old Bag: The Power of the Purse
Every girl has a signature handbag, but what if you could toss your own for one owned by the likes of Charlize Theron? Well, to benefit the Breast Cancer Emergency Fund, this is very much a possibility. With a silent auction and event to raise money for the charity, you can slip your name on the list and hope that you're the lucky winner. With many other celebrity and designer sacks on hand, as well as cocktails and snacks, there is no reason that you shouldn't be apart of this good cause.
When: Friday, October 18, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
Where: St. Regis San Francisco, 125 3rd Street (between Mission and Howard streets); 415-284-4000.
