First Rite's Spring '14 Collection Is One For The Books

There’s a reason why Nikki Garcia’s solid sartorial line is dubbed First Rite, and it might have something to do with the fact that this chick never gets it wrong. Her spring ’14 collection is a testament to that, as it could easily rival some of the top names strutting down the runway this season.
For her latest, Garcia teetered into two new territories she’s never explored — indigo dying and menswear. “For the collection, I knew I wanted to introduce indigo to the line,” says Garcia. “And as I played around with achieving different shades, I thought about the lines we perceive as separating land and water from the sky. I chose a simple palette and lines that recreate the contrast and sharp colors that the changing sky creates from day to night.” The results ring true to her minimalist-meets-edgy aesthetic with bold and bright stripes starring on airy, drape-y silhouettes we could live in. It also comes packed with Garcia’s signature fitted separates — think modern short sets and billowy blouses easily worn for a night out or paired with flats for a day about town.
