We're Already Coveting Lim's Out-Of-This-World, Down-To-Earth Line

Before we arrived at the 3.1 Phillip Lim show yesterday, our beauty editor texted us a warning: "Be careful of the runway. It's covered in rock salt and is extremely slippery — someone's going to fall." Fortunately, that never happened. Instead, the NaCl-covered catwalk created a mood and motif that persisted in Lim's entire collection. It was at once earthy and sophisticated; wearable, yet luxurious.
The chunks of salt reflected the flashing cameras, while the clothing, which played mostly in a palette of muddied yellow, cerulean blue, mint green, brown, and deep grey, held its own against the fog machines. We're already obsessed with the geode prints that cut across boxy tops, mesh-paneled skirts, and easy trousers. Come spring, we can see the fringy piñata-like tops and culottes being our must-have items. And the bark pattern is spot on as its own new trend. Try on that white fringe leather jacket, finish off the look with a pair of reflective, super-sized sunnies, and welcome to Lim's world.
