Rebecca Minkoff has always been a woman ahead of the game; foreseeing the fashion technology revolution with her speaker clutch and extending her line to the beauty department are sure signs that this designer knows how to stay one step ahead of the industry’s trends. This fall, Minkoff is making another bold move by choosing to scrap the magazines and use her 200% budget increase to go digital with her fall campaign.
For the campaign, model Aline Weber captures a “too-cool-for-school” look with thick eyeliner and bleach blonde tresses. The collection’s leather details and structured satchels project an edginess reminiscent of those kids who stood under the bleachers at football games. They were a little intimidating, but man did they look cool. At first glance, the campaign’s artwork looks like pages pulled from a notebook of doodles, as illustrator Madeleine Carrol's work reminds us of school-time sketches, but they also happen to complement the playful edge of Minkoff's collection.
