How To Do Red, White, & Blue: 4 Effortless Outfit Ideas!

We know you have red, white, and blue pieces in your closet that won't occur to you to wear until the Fourth has come and gone. So, to avoid total outfit recall, we've put together four inspired Independence Day looks for your celebratory plans. Consider this an all-American mood board to jog your memory and your patriotism. Now pledge allegiance to your look.
Rooftop Fireworks
One of NYC's greatest pleasures is the rooftop. And though summer is its time to shine (literally), the rooftop is especially useful on the Fourth of July when one can spot fireworks from many angles (if properly unobstructed). For this type of evening that's both festive and laid-back, we recommend a breezy summer frock, a vest for the wind, and sneakers for climbing those walk-up stairs.

Backyard BBQ
Whether you're grillin' in the 'burbs or having a backyard cookout right here in the Big Apple (you lucky thing, you), it's time for feeling casual, yet still put-together. Whip out those overalls and show off some skin with a girly crop top. As always, bright necklaces are a great way to feel dressed up, without going overboard.
J.Crew Sandals, $110, available at J.Crew; Uniqlo Linen Blended Denim Overalls, $19.90, available at Uniqlo; Leatherbay Leather Mini Backpack Purse, $106.99, available at eBags; Medusa Pompon Necklace, $85, available at Boticca; River Island Scallop Crop Top $38, available at River Island.

Pool Party
There's nothing worse than going to a (pool) party and feeling improperly dressed. Our tip is to play up the patriotism and trade the flip-flops for flatforms just in case the party transitions from poolside to drink-side. Carry a tote big enough to house a cute pair of shorts or cover-up, but that can go with any outfit from morning till night. Then: Cannonball!
Anthropologie Gilt Beach Bag, $68, available at Anthropologie; Aldo Babicka Sunglasses, $12, available at Aldo; TopShop Wills 2-Part Flatform Sandals, $70, available at TopShop; Zimmermann Drifter Bikini, $240, available at Zimmermann; Delias High Waisted Shorts, $19.50, available at Delias.

A lunchtime or "linner" (that's lunch + dinner, duh!) picnic is a perfect way to celebrate a long weekend. You'll just need a cute basket to go with that creative red, white, and blue. And don't forget about the beauty option! Pop that amber hue on your lips to put your love for the USA where your mouth is — literally.
Michael Michael Kors Printed Plissé-Jersey Maxi Skirt, $55, available at The Outnet; Erofylli Metallic Sandal, $215, available at Kirna Zabête; Sole Society Floppy Sunhat, $34.95, available at Sole Society; New Look Tie Up Tank, $4.50, available at New Look; Becca Ultimate Matte Lip Color In Poppy, $24, available at Sephora; Crate & Barrel Venata Picnic Basket, $39.95, available at Crate & Barrel.
