Celebrate Spring With Our Favorite Outdoor Workouts

Ah, swimsuit season! We love the promise of long days lounging at the beach, but the thought of slipping on a two-piece is enough to keep us in the shade forever. Luckily, there's still time to kick off a get-fit boot camp — and you don't even need a gym membership. That's right, we present our six favorite outdoor Chi-town calorie killers, so you can feel the burn and the fresh air.
Barre Bee Fit On The Roof
BBF's much-loved rooftop classes are back for another season, which means spectacular views while you burn, burn, burn. Starting May 22, a modified version of the gym's staple class will be taught every Wednesday morning (6:30 a.m.!) on Hotel Palomar's rooftop terrace. You can expect challenging combos of planks, push-ups, and cardio blasts, but the chic surroundings make it all worth it. And, as a bonus, if you treat yourself to a Chi-town staycation at the luxe hotel, you'll get a class on the house.

Windy City Boot Camp
Oftentimes, just making it to the gym is the hardest part of exercising — getting the motivation to get off the couch is trickier than it sounds. Enter, boot camp — by signing up for four-week-long programs, you'll not only force yourself into participating, but you'll get all the motivation you need, thanks to the, let's just say, encouraging instructors. Windy City Boot Camp takes you through everything from running drills to weight lifting, to nutritional counseling, all while taking you through your favorite Chicago neighborhoods. Just make sure you're an early riser: Classes start at 5:30 a.m.

SELF Workout In The Park
This heavy-hitting day is like a one-stop shop for every kind of workout you can imagine. One $20 ticket gets you admission to everything from yoga to dance class to full-on toning, all taught by the experts from Crunch Gym. Think of it as an exercise buffet, so you can find out which calorie burn is the best for you — all while taking in gorgeous Grant Park, of course. This year's even goes down on June 1, so mark your calendars now.

Sun & Moon Beach Yoga
The term "beach yoga" inevitably invokes visions of island living, but you can have all the zen-ness of waterside stretching right here in the Windy City. Sun & Moon teaches Vinyasa Flow classes at North Ave Beach seven days a week (weather permitting, of course), so you can get your downward dog on while you gaze at the crashing waves. Namaste.

The Trapeze School
Calling all thrill-seekers! This high-flying workout is the best way to take your calorie burn to new heights and have a little fun at the same time. Sure, trying out the trapeze for the first time can be a little nerve-racking, but you'll be so focused on your new moves that you'll barely notice you're working out. Just think of all that upper-arm sculpting. The Trapeze School offers all kinds of classes — from traditional flying trapeze to trampoline to conditioning — as well as intensive workshops.

Lululemon Run Club
Whether you're training for the marathon or just trying to pound the pavement more than you pound beers, you'll find a friend in Lululemon's (free!) running club. The group meets three times a week to log mileage, and there truly is something for everyone. If you're looking for an easy, fun run, join Tuesday's session at 6:30 p.m. at the Rush Street store, and for longer runs, set your alarm for Saturday's 7:30 a.m. session. If track workouts are more your thing, join 'em at the 900 Shops location on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
