Tarte's Waterproof Makeup Makes A Splashy Debut

When Tarte founder Maureen Kelly saw synchronized swimming group the Aqualillies on an episode of Glee, she knew they would be the perfect inspiration — and models — for the brand's summer 2013 line. Equal parts serious athletes and ladylike pinup girls, the Aqualillies are real girls (seriously, they have full-time day jobs) that participate in the sport as their very glamorous hobby.
When designing makeup for the Lillies, Kelly had to design with both form and function in mind. The shades needed to be bright and pigmented enough that they would show up during the girls' rigorous performances, and of course they needed to be completely waterproof. The result: a gorgeous multicolor palette, waterproof liners, a coral Glamazon lipstick, two shades of lipgloss, and an Amazonian clay finishing powder, all in shades of coral and turquoise (with some majorly lust-worthy packing to match).
