Finally! A CC Cream To Fit A Variety Of Skin Tones

Did we call it or what? Just when you thought the mania for BB creams had reached a fever pitch, CC creams have waltzed right in to steal their thunder. A refresher on the difference between the two: Whereas BB creams are all about the multi-tasking mix of skin care and makeup, CC creams go to the next level, providing more coverage and color correction. (Now you know where the name comes from.)
Next month, Clinique is going all-in with its forthcoming Moisture Surge CC Cream. The oil-free formula combines serious skin benefits — hyaluronic acid to help skin retain moisture, broad-spectrum SPF 30, plus vitamin E to fight off free radicals — with complexion-evening, glow-giving coverage. The luminosity comes from lavender optics, which defeat dullness without adding color.
All of that's enough to satisfy our inner beauty geek, but here's what has us really stoked: In a welcome shift from the one-shade-fits-all color so common among BB and CC creams, this one is available in six shades from fair to dark. (We've spotted three additional shades, popular in Asia, online, too.) Time will tell if creams will go from CC to DD, but for the time being? We think this one's a-okay.
