4 Local Blogs To Bookmark Now—Sayonara, Productivity!

UPDATE: Need some new weekend reading material? Get caught up with our four newest local blog obsessions. This story was originally published on February 22, 2013.
Confession time: For a blog to make it into our heart of hearts — otherwise known as our Google Reader — it has to be really special. And, to us, "special" means three things: regular updates, beautiful original photography, and unique content. That trifecta is our bread and butter, people, and we can't resist it.
So, we thought we'd introduce you to four of our favorite homegrown sites, all full of eye-candy! Whether you're into fashion, food, design, or entertaining, each URL on our hit list is worth the bookmark — click through to get acquainted! But, yeah....so much for productivity.

Beauté J'Adore
The minute we stumbled upon Nikki Brooks' site, we were hooked. First of all, this talented gal not only looks super-stylish in her clothes, she actually makes them by hand. There's plenty of inspiring DIY fodder for the kitchen, too, ranging from healthy smoothie ideas to comfort-food dinner recipes. But what keeps us coming back is the sheer "I can't believe she made that leather skirt/bomber jacket/fill-in-the-blank" factor. Color us très impressed!

The Pursuit of Style
Blogger (and interior design pro) Lindsay Souza keeps us inspired to revamp our digs, thanks to a healthy mix of aspiration interiors photos, personal style musings, and weekly news roundups. We're partial to the posts in her "This & That" series, where she compares a high-design home item with clothing and accessories to show how trends can translate outside your closet.

Classy and Fabulous
Blogger Elena has a brilliant eye for photography, which means we can spend hours clicking through the snapshots of her adventures. It was this post that got us addicted, but every new entry is chock-full of dreamy images that make you want to be wherever she is, whether it's a snowy sidewalk or a NoVa barn full of antiques. And while the local blogosphere has no shortage of OOTD posts, Elena's snaps always fill us with equal parts inspiration and envy.

Julip Made
When we collaborated with blogger Julie for our holiday tablescape story, she hinted that Julip Made would take on a new focus in the coming months, to explore her love of (and knack for) entertaining. Lucky for us, she's sticking to her word and filling the blog with creative recipes, decorating ideas, and loads of clever tips you can steal for your next at-home get-together. (Passionfruit margarita, anyone?)
