Not Your Grandma's Silk Scarves: Rei Kawakubo Teams With Hermès

Since the visionary behind the Comme des Garçons label, Rei Kawabuko, never truly intended to become a fashion designer, we can call her latest collaboration another very happy accident along her unforeseen path. WWD reports today that Kawakubo will be collaborating with none other than luxury accessory leaders, Hermès.
The avant-garde designer will create two collections of the iconic silk scarves, turning Kawakubo's inventive ideas into classic timepieces. Entitled Noir et Blanc and Couleur, the designs will feature "abstract images" and "geometric elements" that we expect may put Hermès carrés in a whole new light. While the designs are still currently under wraps (pun intended), we can't wait for a peek at this exciting collaboration that will, naturally, only be available in Comme des Garçons store locations. Ranging from $493 to $2,076 per dreamy square, expect this joint-project to debut February 2013. (WWD)
