Recognize That Ferris Wheel? Yep, Lala Inspired Yet Another SICK Collection!

It's a big d.u.h. that Manhattanites are die-hard lovers of their stomping grounds — but there's no denying that even the most staunch harbor a little envy for our even-keeled weather (Sandy be damned!) and plein air cityscapes. Well, our dapper new NYC design crush, Jonathan Simkhai, was on the same wavelength as Hedi Slimane for spring '13, constructing wares with strong nods to the West.
While there's no Stevie Nicks references in this lineup, you will find the Santa Monica Pier's ferris wheel emblazoned on a kaleidoscopic fairy tale of a frock, crop tops made for Coachella revelry, and slouchy palazzos in such luxe fabrics you wouldn't be caught dead lounging in them. Specifically, Simkhai's heart was nostalgic for the Dogtown and Z-Boys days of the '70s for the airy array, and we could just as easily see his muse luring surfers at the Venice skate park as mysteriously sipping rosé alone at the Sunset Tower. Now part of the CFDA's exclusive incubator program, we hope JS still remembers the little people here on the left coast when he hits it BIG!
