5 Things To Do This Week In L.A.

We're sad to see summer go, but we're not about to stay home and whine about it. Instead, we're making plans with Tim Gunn and Aziz Ansari, and dancing away our hump-day blues with a darling indie duo from Brooklyn. This week is already looking like the definition of epic! If you're still staring at a blank iCal, then you should totally join us. Read below and conquer.
Tim Gunn Signs His Fashion Bible
We swear it won't feel like homework when you're flipping through this fashion-history textbook. Swing by The Grove this evening and snag the Project Runway mentor's autograph — perhaps he'll answer a few of your style conundrums, too!
When: Tuesday, September 11, 7 p.m.
Where: Barnes & Noble at The Grove, 189 The Grove Drive (near West Third Street); 323-525-0270.
Everyone's Buzzing About She Keeps Bees
With constant comparisons to Cat Power, it would be silly to skip this $8 performance from the Brooklyn band. We're big fans of the duo's down-and-dirty rock sound, and love when they come to visit!
When: Wednesday, September 12, 8 p.m.
Where: Bootleg Bar, 2220 Beverly Boulevard (at Roselake Avenue); 213-389-3856.
Scope Some Nite Jewels At This Pop-Up Gallery
Emerging local artists are finally having their moment in the sun, thanks to the Tappan Collective. The project, which sells limited-edition works from up-and-coming photographers, painters, and illustrators, is hosting a pop-up gallery with Filter magazine for one night only. With art like Lola Rose Thompson's (featured above) it's sure to be a blast!
When: Thursday, September 13, 7 to 11:30 p.m.
Where: The Standard, Downtown, 550 South Flower Street (at West 6th Street); 213-892-8080.

LOL With Aziz Ansari
The Parks and Recreation star joins us for not one, but two evenings that are sure to be chock-full of chuckles. Tickets range from $25 to $45, a small fee for witnessing one of the funniest fellas on television.
When: Thursday, September 13 and Friday, September 14, 7 p.m.
Where: The Orpheum, 842 South Broadway (near West 9th Street); 877-677-4386.
Catch A Viewing Of True Romance
Let's all agree that the '90s gave us some of the greatest films ever made. In addition to Clueless, Pretty Woman, and The Virgin Suicides (the list goes on and on), the decade also gave us True Romance, a flick where Christian Slater steals a bunch of coke and tries to sell it. Pack some eats and boozy treats, just leave the blow at home, ha!
When: Saturday, September 15, 6:30 p.m.
Where: Cinespia at Hollywood Forever Cemetery, 6000 Santa Monica Boulevard (at Gordon Street); no phone.
