Altuzarra may have only started in fall '09, but his runway show is already one of NYFW's biggest tickets. The young designer continued in the boho-goes-to-work vein of his last spring collection and focused on creating beautifully sharp outerwear. Case in point: The jackets and blazers left our mouths agape. Styled as capes (and with tiny, little patches that reminded us of old-school train conductors), these utilitarian coats were paired with pencil skirts and draped, printed pants — a combination we definitely would have never thought of as working so well.
In terms of evening wear, Altuzarra's Swarovski-laden dresses — wrapped necks, thigh-high slits, and all — perfected the art of over-the-top embellishment while continuing to look classy, elegant, and timeless. These pieces still featured the bohemian vibes from the designer's fall '12 collection but with a bit more maturity and wearability.
